The above VLSI components
will be designed in VHDL and simulated on the MAXPLUS+2 software from ALTERA INC. The design will then be implemented on the VLSI design kit and the AC drive present in our laboratory.

Power inverters using MOSFET, BJT or IGBT bridges to generate AC from DC
RF Transmission of digital data

PREREQUISITES

Course-A1. Introduction to VHDL and VLSI design (I)
Knowledge of power electronics related to IGBT / MOSFET Inverters

CONTENTS

Bus interfacing logic for 8 and 16 bit CPUs.
Design of Cosine Look-Up Table(LUT), for use in Numerically Controlled Oscillator(NCO). Includes handcoding the LUT for a specific PWM carrier frequency and output a/c voltage.
Design of NCO with embedded ROM for storage of LUT. Includes designing embedded ROM with memory initialization file and memory read logic.
Loading the PWM count sent by the NCO.
Generating the PWM carrier wave.
Generating a variable duty cycle output waveform or Phase Potential waveform.
